Jessica Johnson has long been passionately interested in energetic healing and its impact on the whole person. In the 1990’s she lived in Mexico, studying body-focused psychotherapy with Dr. John Pierrakos, Family Constellations Therapy with Bert Hellinger as well as indigenous herbs and healing techniques with the curandera Mayda Ibarra Panico. She returned to the UK in 1999.
Her search for a system that would integrate holistic energy-based therapies within a Western framework led her to studying Shiatsu with Chris Jarmey at the European School of Shiatsu, graduating in May 2002. In 2004 she completed a two year postgraduate training with the Shiatsu College. She now holds a diploma in Holistic Care for Maternity (2006) from Suzanne Yates of Well Mother, author of Shiatsu in Maternity, Elsevier 2003). Jessica has also pursued a varied career in archaeology, publishing, journalism and translation. She is a practitioner of Hua Gong, a healing form of Qi Gong developed by Master Zhixing Wang, attending many of his weekends and retreats.
“My first Shiatsu treatment was a revelation. I not only experienced immediate relief from some acute symptoms brought on by stress but I also felt more integrated, more myself, while the sense of wellbeing created was extraordinary. Shiatsu’s ability to work on the physical, emotional and psychological levels impressed me deeply and inspired me to invest in the three year training course .This method of healing has continued to fascinate me since it is so deeply linked into our lives and potential as human beings.”
